Entrance

are several large supermarket chains in Finland. The stores sell
groceries, housewares, clothing, etc. To the left, at the entrance,
are machines which receive recyclable plastic and glass bottles,
and give you a refund on the deposit paid on the bottles. |

The refrigerated

yogart and related products. Yogart is sold in small containers,
and also larger quart/liter size containers similar to milk cartons. |

supermarket in Salo. Milk is not pasteurized and homogenized like
similar products sold in the US, and typically lasts about 4 days
from date of purchase. |

Potatoes,
of several varieties, directly from the field. They are unwashed,
but sell for about half the price of washed/cleaned potatoes. |

Fresh vegetables,
the choice varies depending on the season. Available here in the
summer are cabbage, onions, cuccumbers, tomatoes, and several other
vegetables grown in Finland. Apples are seen to the right, and come
from the warmer regions of southern Europe. |

Cuccumbers
and tomatoes, grown in hot-houses, and are available the year around
in the grocery stores in Finland. Other fresh vegetables are in
short supply or not available, except in the summer. |

Eggs of
several grades. They are stored unrefrigerated near the dairy case,
in the supermarkets. |

Scale in
the fresh fruit and vegetable section of the supermarket. The scale
prints price labels for self-service fruits and vegetables. |

Beef cuts
chart. American steak cuts such as sirloin, T-bone are not available. |

Cold-cuts,
thin sliced processed meat products such as salami, ham that are
used for making sandwiches. Finns also use this type of meat on

chart. Pork cuts are similar to those found in the US, but ground
pork is also sold, and also sold as a 50-50 mix with ground beef.

cereal available in the EuroMarket. Varieties include cold and hot
cereals, and products from Finland, Europe and the US. US brand
products aremade by European subsidiaries of American companies.

soup, soup mixes and canned meat/fish. |

Paso Mexican type products in the Euro Market. The products are
produced by the US producer of these products, at it European subsidiary.

from Coca Cola and Pepsi, along with several very good Finnish produced
soft drink products, are sold in 1 liter plastic bottles. Beer is
also available in this section of the store.

Dogs are
very popular pets in Finland. Canned dog food is shown here, and
uncanned fresh food is also available in a refrigerator in this
section of the Euro Market.
